How to Make the Most of Wedding Vendor Shows this Season
For the bride, groom, or future spouse that is planning a wedding!
It is engagement season and that means that it is also wedding vendor show season!
What is a wedding vendor show?
Well let me explain a little bit… A wedding vendor show is a huge event where local wedding professionals come together to show off their products and services to prospective couples. If you are planning a wedding and are not sure where to start, you might consider attending a wedding show to meet local vendors that could make your wedding day magical! Some types of vendors you might see at an event like this include venues, photographers, cake bakers, DJs, wedding planners, and so much more.
SO, how can you go into a wedding show and get the most out of your time? Here are a few tips for you…
Go in with a plan
Before going into a wedding show, you might want to sit down and evaluate what you want to come from this event. Are you just going to browse and see what vendors are in your area? Are you going in ready to book vendors and get things checked off your to-do list?
Think through what you want to accomplish while you are at this event and make a plan based off of that. If you are just browsing, then go in with an open mind and have a fun time! If you are ready to book vendors for your wedding day, I recommend researching what vendors will be at the event, and prioritizing ones that you are considering for your wedding.
Be picky about who you invite to attend the event
When you are planning on attending a wedding show, you might want to consider only inviting the people that have a say in what happens at your wedding. That might include parents, your partner, or anyone else that is helping with planning the day or contributing financially. This makes sure that you (the main person that is planning the wedding) is leading the way through the show, and you are able to talk to all the vendors you may be interested in hiring.
Limiting the number of guests you bring can make the event less overwhelming and help you to make the most of your time.
It’s ok to say “no thanks”
There will be plenty of vendors at these shows that will be ready to get your information or even have you book them on the spot, but don’t feel pressured to do anything you aren’t ready to do. It is absolutely fine to say “no thank you” and take a day or two to compare all of your options. If you feel pressured by a vendor, and that makes you a little uncomfortable, that might be a sign that they aren’t the right vendor for you. Just remember that this is YOUR wedding day, and you deserve it to be all you want it to be, so don’t let anyone bully you into something you don’t want.
Allow yourself to be pampered!
These shows are filled with service based businesses, and that means it will be filled with service minded people. Wedding vendors LOVE to shower their clients with attention and affection, so prepare yourself to soak it all in. Give vendors a chance to show you what it would be like to work with them on your big day. If they make you feel comfortable and seen, that might be a sign that they are the right vendor for you.
So, are wedding shows worth it?
In my opinion, yes!
They are a gold mine of businesses that are excited and ready to serve you on your wedding day! Even if you aren’t ready to book vendors yet, it gives you a chance to meet people face-to-face and see if you would enjoy working with them on your wedding day.
